8.7. Check and adjustment of a gap between contacts of the breaker

The gap between contacts of the breaker is regulated time in 15 thousand km or is more often if it is necessary (see the section "Diagnostics").

We uncover the distributor, without taking out from it high-voltage wires (see. "Removal of a rotor of the distributor of ignition"), also we take a cover aside.

The head "on 38" or a special key turned a bent shaft of the engine for a nut of fastening of a pulley so that the plastic emphasis a rychazhka of mobile contact appeared at top of a ledge of a cam and the gap between contacts became maximum. Operations on check and adjustment of a gap between contacts of the breaker are for descriptive reasons shown on the removed distributor.

The flat probe we check a gap between contacts of the breaker.

The optimum size of a gap — 0,4 mm. The probe has to enter a gap with easy effort. In need of adjustment...

... we weaken the screw-driver two screws of fastening of a plate of motionless contact.

We insert the screw-driver into a groove of a plate of motionless contact and, shifting a plate, we try to obtain a necessary gap between contacts then we tighten screws of fastening of a plate.

Screws of fastening of a plate of motionless contact of the breaker should not be tightened too strongly not to damage the bearing of a mobile plate of the breaker.

After adjustment of a gap between contacts of the breaker it is necessary to check and if necessary to adjust an ignition advancing corner (see. "Adjustment of the moment of ignition").

For replacement of contact group (operations are for descriptive reasons shown on the removed distributor) we remove a distributor rotor (see. "Removal of a rotor of the distributor of ignition").

Key "on 7" we turn off a nut of the contact screw, holding the screw from a provorachivaniye the screw-driver.

We remove a nut, metal and plastic washers.

We take out the screw and we remove from it the insulator and a tip of a wire.

We unscrew two screws of fastening of a plate of motionless contact...

... also we remove contact group of the breaker.

We establish new contact group in the return sequence and we regulate a gap between contacts. We establish a rotor and a cover of the distributor in the return sequence.
