13. Cardan transfer

Description of a design

The Krugyashy moment from a secondary shaft of the transmission is transferred to the elastic coupling, from it — by means of shlitsevy connection — to the forward driveshaft, from the forward driveshaft via the cardan hinge - to the back driveshaft and from it via other cardan hinge - to the flange fork connected to the leading gear wheel of the main transfer. For clearing of vibrations the back end of the forward driveshaft is established in the intermediate elastic support connected with a body.

Forward driveshafts on cars with different transmissions are not interchanged: on the car equipped with the Izh-2126 transmission, the forward driveshaft is 30 cm longer, than on the car with VAZ-21074 box.

The driveshaft represents a thin-walled steel pipe.

At the forward driveshaft from two parties tips are welded to a vent to the Vyya. On forward shlitsevy the tip is put on flane of the elastic coupling, on back - a fork of the cardan hinge. Shlitsevy connection of a flange of the elastic coupling is condensed with the epiploon which is drawn in by a holder. For replenishment of lubricant in shlitsevy connection in a flange of the elastic coupling there is an opening with a stopper. Through each 30 thousand km of a run shlitsevy connection is greased with Fiol-2U's lubricant or Fiol-1.

The elastic coupling consists of six steel inserts connected by rubber crossing points. Due to the elasticity the coupling extinguishes breakthroughs in car transmission. The elastic coupling fastens to a flange of a secondary shaft of the transmission three bolts passed through openings in inserts. Three other openings serve for fastening of the coupling to a flange of the forward driveshaft.

Forks of cardan hinges are welded on end faces of the back driveshaft.

The cardan hinge consists of the crosspiece with bearings connecting two forks with each other. The crosspiece has four thorns which cases of bearings with needles (thin rollers) are put on. In eyes of forks of the case of bearings are fixed by lock rings. For protection against dirt the bearing is condensed with the epiploon which is put on a crosspiece thorn.

Cardan transfer is balanced at the special stand; the imbalance is eliminated with welding of balancing plates to pipes of driveshafts.

At a rassoyedineniye of parts of driveshafts it should be noted paint or a center punch their relative positioning that at assembly to establish on former places. Driveshafts need to be balanced anew (or to replace) at loss of balancing plates, deformation, replacement of details of cardan transfer. The imbalance of cardan transfer leads to noticeable vibrations at high speeds. The strong imbalance can cause destruction of cardan transfer and the next units.
