18.4. Replacement of back brake shoes

It is more convenient to replace back brake shoes on a viewing ditch or the elevator, but it is possible also on the flat platform.

We remove a back wheel and in salon we weaken a cable of the drive of the parking brake system (see. "Adjustment and removal of knots of the parking brake system").

If the brake drum has the fillet which resulted from wear of its working part, blocks need to be reduced. For this purpose we roll two bolts of fastening of a wheel in diametrically located half shaft flange openings. We turn a drum before coincidence of its opening to an opening in a front brake shoe and we insert into them a core of suitable diameter.

It is impossible to turn a drum for the directing hairpins for installation of a wheel in order to avoid their breakage.

Having implanted an assembly shovel between bolts...

... with effort we turn a drum back, shifting the top end of a forward block in the wheel cylinder.

We combine an opening in a drum with a nut of fastening of the razzhimny lever of the parking brake to a back block.

Having put on a nut a head "on 13" with the extender or a suitable tube, we turn a drum an assembly shovel for bolts forward and we shift the top end of a back block in the wheel cylinder.

The brake drum fastens to a half shaft flange the hairpins serving at the same time and directing for installation of a wheel. It is desirable to tap hairpins before an otvorachivaniye the hammer.

Cap key "on 12" we turn off two hairpins of fastening of the brake drum. It is better to use a six-sided cap key or a high head.

We roll the removed hairpins in two carving openings of a drum. At a wraparound of a hairpin will rest against a flange of a half shaft and to shift a drum.

We remove the brake drum.

Having hooked the screw-driver, we disconnect the end of the top coupling spring from a block...

... also we remove it.

Also having hooked the screw-driver, we disconnect the end of a spring of an expansion level from chills...

... also we remove a spring.

We bring a front brake shoe out of a clamping spring...

... also we disconnect the lower coupling spring of blocks.

We remove an expansion level.

We remove a back block...

... also we disconnect a tip of a cable of the parking brake from the razzhimny lever.

If clamping springs of blocks need replacement (lost elasticity)...

... having hooked the screw-driver, we bring them out of openings of a brake board.

We disconnect from a back block razzhimny the lever of a priaod of the parking brake. For this purpose...

... a cap key "on 13" we turn off a nut of fastening of the razzhimny lever, holding a special bolt from a provorachivaniye a key "on 17".

We remove a spring washer, the plug, razzhimny the lever, a washer and we take out a bolt from an opening in a block.

Before installation of new blocks utaplivay pistons on identical depth in the wheel cylinder...

We collect a back block with the razzhimny lever of the drive of the parking brake. We fix a tip of a cable of the parking brake in the razzhimny lever and we enter a block under a clamping spring. We establish an expansion level, we connect the lower ends of blocks the lower coupling spring and we enter a forward block under a clamping spring. We hook on the short end of the top coupling spring for an oval opening in the top part of a back block.

The thin strong screw-driver we pick up a spring for the long end and we enter it into the top triangular opening of a forward block.

We establish a spring of an expansion level, having hooked on its short end for an opening in an expansion level, and long we enter the thin screw-driver into the lower triangular opening of a forward block.

After installation of new brake shoes it is necessary to adjust the parking brake system (see. "Adjustment and removal of knots of the parking brake system").
