15.2. Angles of installation of forward wheels

For ensuring stability and controllability of the car forward wheels of the car are established under certain corners concerning elements of a body and a suspension bracket. Three parameters are subject to adjustment: convergence, corner of disorder of a wheel and corner of a longitudinal inclination of an axis of turn.

Corner of a longitudinal inclination of an axis of turn (fig. 1) — a corner between the vertical and the line passing through the centers of turn of a spherical support and the bearing of the top support of the directing spring rack in the plane parallel to a longitudinal axis of the car. For increase in a tilt angle of an axis of turn the top support of a rack which is originally located as shown in a photo 1, it is necessary to turn on 180 ° concerning an opening in a body mudguard cup (a photo 2).

At the same time the corner of a longitudinal inclination of an axis of turn will increase on 0 °52' (the operating procedure is described in the subsection "Removal of the Directing Spring Rack").

Corner of disorder of a wheel (fig. 2) — a corner between the plane of rotation of a wheel and a vertical. It is regulated by turn of the top bolt of fastening of a damping rack to a rotary fist (see. "Removal of the directing spring rack").

Convergence of wheels (fig. 3) — a corner between the plane of rotation of a wheel and a longitudinal axis of the car. The convergence can also be defined as a difference of distances between zakraina îáîäüåâ, measured behind and in front of wheels at the level of their centers. The convergence is regulated by rotation of internal steering draft for lysk at the released lock-nut of an external tip of steering draft (see. "Removal of an external tip of steering draft").

Control and adjustment of angles of installation of forward wheels is recommended to be made at service station. Before adjustment it is necessary to be convinced that pressure in tires meets standard, wear of a protector of tires on the left and right wheels is approximately identical, there are no side plays in bearings of naves and elements of steering, wheels are not deformed.

Check of angles of installation of wheels is obligatory if replaced or repaired the knots and details of a suspension bracket influencing sizes of these corners. Because the angles of installation of forward wheels are interconnected, first of all check and regulate a corner of a longitudinal inclination of an axis of turn, then disorder and in the last turn — a convergence.
