17.5. Removal of the lower cardan hinge

The lower cardan hinge is removed at its wear or breakage, and also for replacement of a rubber cover. In a motor compartment under the main brake cylinder the rubber cover is shifted up a shaft...

... and a key "on 13" we turn off a nut of a bolt of fastening of the lower cardan hinge to an intermediate shaft, holding a bolt from a provorachivaniye a key "on 12".

We take out a bolt.

Similarly we dismantle a bolt of fastening of the lower cardan hinge to a shaft of a gear wheel of the steering mechanism.

By the Shlitsevy screw-driver it is weakened terminal connections of the lower cardan hinge with a shaft of a gear wheel of the steering mechanism...

... and with an intermediate shaft.

We shift the lower cardan hinge up vents before separation with a shaft of a gear wheel of the steering mechanism...

... also we remove it from shlits of an intermediate shaft (the rubber cover on a photo 5 and 6 is for descriptive reasons removed).

We install the new lower cardan hinge and a rubber cover in the return sequence. At the same time we collect the top connection, as shown in the head "Removal of a steering column" (a photo 6). We collect the lower connection randomly, however at the same time reinstallation of a steering wheel will be required (see. "Removal of a steering wheel").
