4.3. Adjustment of a tension and replacement of a belt of the drive of the pump of cooling liquid on the car with the VAZ-2106 engine

We check a tension of a belt on its deflection between pulleys of units. At a normal tension of a belt its deflection under effort of 98 N (10 kgfs)...

... between pulleys of the generator and pump of cooling liquid has to be within 10-15 mm...

... and between pulleys of the pump and a bent shaft — 12-17 mm.

For a belt tension...

... a cap key "on 17" we weaken a nut of fastening of the generator to an adjusting level.

We shift the generator in the direction from the block of cylinders of the engine the strong screw-driver, having inserted it into a cut of an adjusting level.

If it is not possible to shift the generator...

... a cap key "on 19" we weaken a nut of a bolt of the lower fastening of the generator.

Having reached a nominal tension of a belt, we tighten a nut of fastening of the generator to an adjusting level. If necessary we tighten a nut of a bolt of the lower fastening of the generator.

For removal of a belt we weaken fastenings of the generator...

... we shift the generator towards the block of cylinders of the engine...

... also we take off a belt from pulleys.

We establish the new or taken-off belt in the return sequence and we regulate its tension.
