4.7. Removal and check of the thermostat on the car with the VAZ-2106 engine

Serviceability of the thermostat can be checked, without removing it. At the serviceable thermostat after launch of the cold engine the taking-away (lower) hose of a radiator has to remain some time cold, and then quickly to heat up, indicating the beginning of circulation of liquid on a big circle (see. "Description of a design"), If the taking-away hose of a radiator begins to heat up practically right after launch of the engine or does not heat up in general, it indicates malfunction of the thermostat and need of its replacement.

We merge cooling liquid (see. "Replacement of cooling liquid on the car with the VAZ-2106 engine"). That the remains of cooling liquid at removal of the thermostat did not pour out on the generator and did not put it out of action...

... carefully we close the generator a polyethylene film.

We weaken the screw of a collar of fastening of the bringing hose (from a radiator) to a thermostat branch pipe...

... also we remove a hose from a branch pipe.

We weaken the screw of a collar of fastening of a bypass hose to a thermostat branch pipe.

... also we remove a hose from a branch pipe.

We weaken the screw of a collar of fastening of the bringing hose of the pump of cooling liquid to a thermostat branch pipe...

... also we remove the thermostat.

For check of the thermostat we lower it in a vessel with cooling liquid, we warm up liquid and we control the beginning of opening of the main valve on the thermometer. We install the thermostat in the return sequence.
